Cardinal Classic
The team kicked off track season at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Catholic University at the PG Sports & Learning Complex.
As always, Jessica Ponds posted strong results in the mid-distance events. She broke her own masters team record in the mile, running 5:35.02. Shortly after, she ran 68.9 in the 400m.
In the 5000m, Jacob Englander finished 9th in 17:29.05. On the women’s side, Lydia Radcliffe won the race with her time of 18:15.96. She officially joined the Racing Team later that day. Welcome Lydia!
Waterfall 50k
At the VHTRC Waterfall 50k, Jicheng (Jason) Liu continued his streak of impressive ultramarathon finishes, running 6:45:05 to place 3rd overall.
Sunday Strides
The Striders hosted Operation Iceberg #2 at Burleigh Manor Middle School. In the 2 mile, Alexandra Carrizales was the first female (2nd overall finisher) in 12:16. Jason Tripp was right behind in 12:17 (3rd overall). In the 5 mile, Linda Alms was the first female finisher (8th overall finisher) in 43:36. John Chall finished 3rd overall in 39:47.
