Linda Alms
Linda began running in college, but her journey into longer distances began after the loss of her husband in December 2016. Running quickly became a source of strength and healing, and over time, a true passion. She has since completed 10 marathons and numerous half marathons, recently finishing the Flying Pirate Half Marathon in 1:53. An adventurous competitor, she has raced in three overseas half marathons: Costa Rica, Belize, and Jamaica, earning first place in her age group at each.
One of her most meaningful accomplishments was running the Boston Marathon alongside her daughter, a memory she holds close. Her favorite race distance is the half marathon, which she loves for its balance of endurance, speed, and strategy. What she enjoys most about being part of the Striders is the variety of affordable, fun races and the chance to run with others on courses that break away from the everyday routine. Her future goal? To still be running and winning her age group at age 99.
