Youth Programs
The Howard County Striders, in partnership with Bullseye Running, provide a variety of training programs for youth runners for elementary school children through college age young adults.
- Junior Striders Spring Track [April – June]
- Spring youth track and field program (all events) for kids no younger than born in 2018 [~age 7] and up to 2007 [~age 18].
- Junior Striders Summer Track [June – July]
- This Level 2 program is for the more serious and competitive runners, 7 to 18 years old. Through a series of progressional events consisting of Local, Association and Regional meets, athletes will have the opportunity to advance to a Junior Olympic National Meet.
- Summer Striders XC Base Training [June – August]
- The Summer Striders is a resource designed for high school and college age runners pursuing excellence in cross country. Coaches will tell you that XC champions and championship teams are made in the summer!
- Athletes will meet 3 times a week (Listed below) to complete a variety of training runs designed to help the athlete build a solid base and transition smoothly into the fall XC season.
- All runs and workouts will be designed based on the athlete’s current fitness level and there will be a variety of training groups for runners of differing ability levels.
- Junior Striders Fall XC [September – November]
- This program is for runners (it is not a walking program) in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Beginners and experienced runners are welcome but please make sure they want to run!
- Junior Striders Fall Track [September – November]
- Junior Striders Indoor Track [November – February]
