Alexandra Carrizales

Alex started running when she was in 6th grade. Her mom signed her up for cross country because some of her friends were going to join the team. She showed up to the first day of practice not knowing what cross country was.
In high school (Yellow Springs), Alex broke the school record for the 1600m (5:23), but never qualified to any state meet championship. In college (Wright State University), she started off as an underdog on the team, but by her senior year she held every distance track school record (from the 1500m up to the 10k). In 2017 Alex won the indoor Horizon League Championships 3k and the outdoor Horizon League Championships 10k (setting a conference 10k record).
Post college, she ran her first marathon (ORRRC Xenia Ohio Marathon – spring of 2018) and broke the course record by over a minute.
Short term goals: 1) Race her first 1/2 marathon this fall (Parks half marathon), 2) Try to break 60 seconds in the 400m.
Long term goals: Stay injury free and keep grinding.
