The Howard County Striders are a nonprofit running club based in central Maryland, dedicated to promoting lifetime fitness through running. We’re a welcoming community of runners of all ages and ability levels, from brand-new beginners to highly competitive athletes. Your membership supports the races, training programs, and community events that make Howard County such a strong running community.
What you get as Striders member
For a $30 per-year individual membership, or a $50 per-year family membership, the Howard County Striders offers the following benefits:

- Multiple weekly group-run options plus informal long runs and post-run camaraderie.
- Members-only training programs
- Access to our year-round “Next Step®” training series led by volunteer coaches.
- Programs include:
- Hibernation to 5K
- 10M Training
- Females in Training (FIT)
- Half/Full Marathon Training
- Building to 10K
- Races & low-key events all year
- Club races, prediction runs, relays, and race series across the seasons. Many events offer member discounts.
- Club Challenge 10M, Spring Hops 5K, Women’s Distance Festival 5K, Run Through the Grapevine 8K, and series events like Sunday Strides and Friday Night XC

Do I need to be a member to join training programs?
Yes, you must be a current Striders member to participate in all training programs
Are there member-only events?
Some events require active membership (for example, the RRCA Club Challenge is verified against current membership rosters).
Is RRCA included with my Striders membership?
Yes, Striders members receive automatic RRCA membership, and the membership dues include your portion of the mandatory RRCA national fee.
