Mark first began running competitively in high school, where he ran for Liberty High School’s track and cross country teams. After four years and earning the title of “Cross Country Most Valuable Runner” in his senior year, Mark decided to hang up the running shoes while attending the University of Maryland. He resumed his training in the Fall of 2008 to prepare for his first marathon (Walt Disney World, 2009).
Mark earned the Howard County Striders’ Most Improved Runner Award in 2009 and Runner of the Year Award in 2011. He is a five-time Boston Marathon finisher and two-time winner of the Columbia Metric Marathon (2011, 2014). He served as the co-chair of the Striders Racing Team from 2010-2020 and was a member of the Board of Directors.
Mark continues to train consistently today, but does not race nearly as often as he used to. His PRs include:
