Running Together – Spring 2025
The Running Together program is designed for adults with disabilities who want to learn to run, move, or just socialize. The Running Together coaches will support and guide you so that you will feel more confident running or exercising. If you are already running, you are welcome to participate- this is a great way to get your weekly run in in a welcoming environment. All runners must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the program and be able to independently stay with a group.
Training Program Structure
Participants will be divided into smaller training groups with coaches who will provide them with training that is best for their current fitness level and running method preference.
Group 1
The focus of this group will be on movement and socialization. We will move, but at a slower pace and shorter distance.
Group 2
This group will focus on the run/walk method of running. The participants will work up to increasing their running intervals at a comfortable pace.
Group 3
Group 3 will run/jog for the entirety of the training session. The participants will work on form, speed, and/or distance.
In all groups, participants abilities and exercise levels will be taken into account to the best of the coaches capabilities. Pre-run warmups will take place at Blandair Park East followed by runs primarily on nearby paved trails within and around the park.
And we run in rain, but not during thunder or lightning!
