Brittney Rooks (4th overall) had no difficulty leaving the rest of the women's field far behind and was only 15 seconds away from usurping the 1996 course record held by Dolly Ginter. Del'Vaughn Rooks narrowly outpaced Maurice Pointer to clinch the 2M overall win. Josh Alcombright and Sari Stenholm won the 5M distance race.
