Sheldon Degenhardt has been running and Nordic skiing competitively since high school. He ran XC during his first two years of college at Wittenberg University in Ohio, where he was in a constant battle for slowest-guy-on-the-team. Despite finally coming to his senses and realizing that academics was his true calling (he went on to get a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ohio State), he continued running and racing occasionally on his own. As each summer winds down, he enjoys breaking out his roller skis and getting in shape for two or three Nordic ski races each winter (Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Lake Placid). Sheldon is married with two boys (ages 12 & 14 in 9/2007). He enjoys ultimate Frisbee, snow and water sports, crossword puzzles, and traveling and camping with his family.
