Cara Wettlaufer has been a strider since 2007, when she was first introduced to the club by fellow UMBC runner Izudin Mehmedovic. She first began running her freshman year of high school, participating in the 800 and 1600 meters during the track season. She eventually joined the cross country team her junior year, where she helped lead her team to their first of two state titles. Cara continued her running career in college, running at UMBC and setting multiple school and conference records. As a graduate student at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Cara continues to enjoy racing 5Ks as she completes her doctorate degree in physical therapy. In addition to running, Cara enjoys traveling, going to the beach, watching movies, and volunteering for Baltimore Volunteer Central.
